Accessibility

What we have done, and what we know is still imperfect.

Last updated 13 September 2026

What we aim for

We aim to meet WCAG 2.2 Level AA. We have not commissioned an external audit, so this is a statement of what we have built and tested rather than a certified conformance claim.

What is in place

  • Every page can be operated by keyboard alone, and focus is always visible.
  • A skip link jumps past the navigation to the main content.
  • One main heading per page, with headings in a logical order.
  • Colour contrast checked against the AA threshold for body and interface text.
  • The page is readable and usable at 200% zoom, and zoom is not disabled.
  • Frequently asked questions work without JavaScript, using native disclosure elements.
  • Form fields have real labels, and errors are announced rather than shown only in colour.
  • Animation is reduced automatically when your system asks for reduced motion, including the loading sequence, which is skipped entirely.
  • Images and decorative placeholders carry text alternatives describing what they show.

Known limitations

  • We have tested by keyboard, at narrow widths and with automated checks, but not yet with a screen reader such as VoiceOver, JAWS or NVDA.
  • Long guide pages have no in-page contents list, so reaching a specific section means scrolling or using a browser find.
  • The loading sequence on a first visit is decorative. It is hidden from assistive technology and skipped entirely under reduced motion, but it does delay the first view by around two seconds.

How we tested it

This statement was prepared on 13 September 2026 following our own review of the site. We tested every page by keyboard alone, at phone widths down to 390 pixels (the layout a desktop browser uses at 200 per cent zoom), and against automated checks for contrast, heading order, landmark structure and form labelling.

The site is built to work in current versions of Chrome, Firefox, Safari and Edge. It does not depend on JavaScript for reading content: with scripts disabled, every page, heading, link and answer is still there.
